USDA approves food program for out-of-school children under 6

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) – The Department of Health Services announced Monday that Wisconsin has received approval to distribute child support benefits to out-of-school children under age six.

The Pre-6 Pandemic-EBT Program provides food benefits to young children who are members of a FoodShare household and are not receiving benefits under the school-age P-EBT program.

The Department of Health Services says these additional food benefits will provide critical support to families impacted by COVID-19.

“The Department of Health Services continues to work hard to ensure Wisconsin families have the food they need to support their youngest through the early years of their child’s development,” said Secretary Designate Karen Timberlake. . “These additional food benefits provide essential support to families affected by COVID-19.”
