NSW Flooding Continues, More SES Sydney Evacuation Orders Issued; heavy rain continues on Australia’s east coast

Footage has emerged showing police braving rapidly rising waters on Tuesday morning to rescue a man stuck in his ute in Sydney’s northwest.

Resident David Malone said he went down to the river in South Windsor just after breakfast and saw a car in the water. After seeing a flicker of light in the window, he called the police – fearing someone was trapped inside.

“They were there within minutes,” Malone said.

“They didn’t even think twice, they jumped in and they were up to their necks in water.

“I could see a light coming through the back, they must have been able to show they were inside.”

In the video, you can see officers jumping into the floodwaters before using their batons in an attempt to smash the window to save the man.

Eventually, officers open one of the car doors and pull the man to safety.
