cpl. Holly Largy said a man died of gunshot wounds at 202 Street and 88 Avenue. He was shot just before 2 p.m.

“Based on the research theory at this early stage, this doesn’t seem like an arbitrary act,” Largy said in a press release.

“The area surrounding the accident will be cordoned off for a considerable time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working with Langley RCMP.

“Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information is being provided at this time.”

All further information will come from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Anyone with information is requested to call the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by emailing ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

Photos of the scene obtained by Postmedia show several ambulances, police vehicles and wrecked cars. It is not clear whether the victim was driving any of the vehicles.

The body of the male victim can be seen on the ground under a yellow sheet and surrounded by pylons not far from the Shark Club Bar and Grill. Yellow tape can be seen outside a running shoe store.
