Man arrested after police chase in Hillside

A Bacchus Marsh man has been arrested after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle in Hillside on Thursday night.

Police first spotted the stolen 1994 Nissan Skyline on Falcon Drive in Melton around 9:55 p.m.

The car is believed to have been stolen from a mall in Melton last week.

The Police Air Wing was called and began following the car as it entered the Western Freeway at high speed.

Officers used stop sticks at The Regency in Hillside, but the driver reportedly drove on before colliding with a civilian’s parked car on Banchory Avenue.

The driver allegedly fled on foot, but was arrested without incident shortly afterwards.

The 33-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries in the accident under police guard.

No one else was injured.

Detectives from the Melton Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and it is still going on.
