Kohler celebrates and improves mental health support for associates

KOHLER, Wis., July 5, 2022 /CSRwire/ — Kohler Co. announces its expanded Employee Assistance Program this week. This enhanced offering provides Kohler associates around the world with access to mental health and work/life resources.

“Kohler cares deeply about the safety, health and well-being of all associates and has dedicated many years to strengthening its mental health services offering,” said Dan Velicer, vice president of Kohler, Global Benefits. “The expansion of our Employee Assistance Program is a positive step in supporting the wellness journey of our global associates.”

Kohler’s continued progress has been recognized by industry organizations including the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Wellness Council of America (platinum-level Well Workplace award). Kohler’s HeadsUP Business Resource Group, made up of mental health advocates from across Kohler, promotes mental health awareness, education and support for Kohler associates, family and friends affected by the disease mental.

Kohler also marks the one-year anniversary of its designation as a stigma-free organization through its partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), demonstrating its full support for people living with mental illness. With this partnership, Kohler is committed to continuously addressing the stigma of mental illness in its workplace through the following commitments:

  • To provide a place of support and inclusion, without judgment, for all, including associates, family and friends of Kohler affected by mental illness.
  • Recognize that mental health is similar to physical health and is part of an associate’s overall well-being.
  • Integrate company-wide mental health and mental illness training and resources consistently throughout the year and across all Kohler functions and business groups.
  • Advocate for all associates in leadership, management, and human resources to have mental health conversations with their respective associates in hopes of forging a rusty environment within Kohler.
  • Promote open and public mental health communications among all Kohler associates.

Additionally, to celebrate and support May Mental Health Awareness Month, Kohler Co. hosted in-person and virtual events for associates and their families, confirming to associates the importance of awareness and the benefits of mental health. The events centered on the #IWillListen Run/Walk and the NAMI StigmaFree Pledge, which attracted over 300 associated participants worldwide.
