Knife barking: Live updates from east London as a man rushed to hospital after being stabbed on a busy road in broad daylight

A 46-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in broad daylight on a busy east London street. Police and ambulance services were called to the scene in Upney Lane in Barking at 1.21pm earlier today (Saturday April 23) following reports of a stabbing.

The victim was taken to a south London hospital, but we are still awaiting an update on his condition. Two men suspected of attempted murder have been arrested and remain in custody.

Witnesses on social media reported seeing an air ambulance arrive at Barking Park after the attack to attend to the victim. One also described seeing an individual “covered in blood” and added that the area surrounding the Faircross post office had been cordoned off by police.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call 101 with reference 3468/23APR. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
