Gatineau extends beach, pool hours during weekend heatwave

The city of Gatineau is extending the opening hours of beaches, wading pools and outdoor pools this weekend to help residents cool off from the heat.

Environment Canada’s forecasts announce a maximum of 31°C on Saturday and Sunday in Gatineau, with the Humidex giving a sensation of 40 degrees.

The City indicates that the beaches of Parc Moussette, Parcs du Lac-Beauchamp and des Cèdres will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The following pools will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. this weekend.

  • Fontaine swimming pool and paddling pool (120, rue Charlevoix, Hull sector);
  • Sauvageau Pool (179, rue Mutchmore, Hull)
  • Laurent-Groulx swimming pool (1, rue Lévesque, Hull)
  • Desjardins Pool (1 Goyette Street, Hull)
  • La Vérendrye Pool (730 Main Street, Gatineau)
  • Jack-Eyamie swimming pool (40, rue du Bassin, Masson-Angers)
  • Cedars Park Beach (15, rue Raoul-Roy, Aylmer)
  • Moussette Park Beach (361, boul. Lucerne, Hull)
  • Lac-Beauchamp Park Beach (741, boul. Maloney Est, Gatineau)

The city of Gatineau specifies that the wading pools will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day in municipal parks.

Lifeguards are on duty at Gatineau Park beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In Ottawa, lifeguards are on duty at Britannia Beach, Mooney’s Bay Beach and Petrie Island from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
