BioTalent Canada Launches Training Courses to Address Key Skills Gaps in Canada’s Bioeconomy

These courses are designed to develop the fundamental skills that Canadian employers are looking for in candidates. Included are the skills that the Government of Canada has identified as essential for workplace success: communication, collaboration and problem solving. The Skills for Success courses were funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Adult Learning, Literacy and Essential Skills Program.

According to BioTalent Canada’s National Labor Market Intelligence report released in late 2021, many employers cite the lack of “soft skills” among Canadian post-secondary graduates. Chief among these is problem solving, rated “very important” by 86% of bioeconomy employers. Nearly 75% of employers highlighted the importance of collaboration, communication, adaptability and interpersonal skills.

“The Skills for Success courses were carefully developed after consulting with employers on what they are looking for in an ideal candidate and what skills are most often missing,” said Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada. . “These courses promote a seamless transition to any bioeconomy workplace, allowing new employees to adapt to and thrive in their new workplace.”

Users can complete pre-assessments and post-assessments for each course in the program and upon successful completion will receive the certificate from BioTalent Canada BioRead y Industry designation TM. This recognition gives candidates a competitive edge in the job market. Existing employees with it are also better positioned for upward mobility.

“BioTalent Canada strives to put job seekers in the best position to pursue careers in Canada’s bio-economy. This top-notch training will make them attractive to employers,” says Henderson. “Skills for Success positions people to maximize their potential and thrive as a member of today’s bio-economic workforce.”
