Women make up majority of ‘rough sleepers’ on Melbourne’s streets

Suzan Delibasic of the Herald Sun said Melbourne’s homeless were forced into “vulnerable situations” after government-funded hotels ended.

“They sleep rough, they get robbed, some even get attacked and what’s really sad is that the majority of those rough sleepers are women,” Ms Delibasic told the host. from Sky News, Rita Panahi.

A woman in her 40s told Ms Delibasic that all of her belongings, “even her lunch box”, had been stolen.

Ms Panahi said homeless women face “all sorts of additional dangers”.
