Winnipeg police are investigating a Sunday shooting

Winnipeg police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting in River East.

According to the duty desk, police received the call around 2:14 a.m. at a residence on Bonner Avenue, near the corner of Rothesay Street. Reports indicate that shots were fired in the house.

Owner Erika Braun told CTV News that she and her husband woke up to what sounded like a big bang on the window. They were afraid someone had thrown something in the window and was trying to get in. “It’s never happened before,” she said, “we have a very quiet neighborhood here, it’s very suspicious.”

The couple went to investigate and found that a bullet had passed through the front window, through the dining room wall and into their office.

“It’s a bit of a concern. I’m usually lakeside, so when I get home and that happens, I want to move,” Braun said.

Police say no one was injured in the incident and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
