Vigil Honors Los Angeles County Firefighter Jonathan Flagler Who Died Fighting at Rancho Palos Verdes Home

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (KABC) — A candlelight vigil was held Monday night in San Clemente to honor Los Angeles County firefighter Jonathan Flagler, who died last week fighting a house fire in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Flagler, 47, had been a firefighter for 21 years — first with the city of Vernon for 19 years and then moved to the district office in October 2020.

He leaves behind his wife Jenny and two sons aged 15 and 13.

At a news conference, officials said the fallen firefighter was being rescued from the burning house.

The wake was one of many tributes to Flagler.

On Saturday, firefighters in his honor stood atop their engines overlooking the 5 Freeway.

The firefighters’ union has set up a memorial fund to help the family.
