A homicide investigation is underway following the discovery of a body in an industrial area of ​​Burnaby on Thursday morning.

Burnaby RCMP say first responders were called to a gravel lot near a vacant building on Norland Avenue near Laurel Street – between Highway 1 and the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex – after member of the public found the body of a man.

Police are working to identify the victim, but say his injuries are consistent with foul play and there are early indications it was a targeted incident.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called to the scene.

RCMP are asking anyone with dashcam video of Norland Avenue and Laurel Street during the 12 hours between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9:45 a.m. Thursday to call them.
