What’s the latest news about Antony?

According to MailOnline, ten Hag remains interested in sealing a reunion with Antony at Manchester United.

However, the report suggests that the Red Devils hierarchy believe it will be difficult to strike a deal with Ajax as the Dutch giants have imposed a £70m price tag on the nine-cap Brazil international, which which is considered too expensive.

Antony has also been frustrated with Ajax’s financial demands, with De Telegraaf – via United in Focus – revealing the striker sees his valuation as ‘disproportionate’ while his current employers try to dissuade suitors.

It is understood Manchester United officials traveled to Amsterdam last month as they tried to reach an agreement with Ajax, but it appears those efforts have been unsuccessful.

The Red Devils aren’t the only Premier League side following Antony, with Chelsea also holding talks with the 22-year-old’s representatives.

What did Fabrizio Romano say about Antoine?

With Cristiano Ronaldo asking Manchester United to sanction his departure if a suitable offer arrives before the September 1 deadline, Romano believes ten Hag is looking for new faces in the attacking third of the pitch.

The transfer guru understands that Antony is among the names at the top of the Red Devils chief’s wish list.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “Let’s see if they can find a solution for a number nine or if they can go for Antony.

“Antony is a player they really want.”

Why does ten Hag want to work with Antony again?

It’s clear that ten Hag is a huge fan of Antony, as he previously described the Brazilian as ‘incredibly talented’ who is ‘going through an incredibly beautiful development’.

Antony was capped 79 times during Hag’s Ajax’s ten-time reign and he repaid the faith shown by the current Manchester United boss by registering 22 more goals and 20 assists.

According to WhoScored, he recorded an average match rating of 7.47 last season, which underlines that he is still a strong performer.

With Antony’s current salary at Ajax being £19,000 a week, the Red Devils will also see his personal financial demands as affordable.
