Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of Taco Bell employee – NBC Los Angeles

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of an employee at a Taco Bell in South Los Angeles, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said.

Moore announced the arrest during a Tuesday night vigil for Alejandro Garcia, 41, who was shot by a man in a black sedan trying to pay for his meal with a counterfeit bill at the restaurant’s drive-through window.

A father of three was fatally shot by a customer, allegedly over a counterfeit bill, while working at a South LA Taco Bell. The victim’s son was also working at the location during the shooting. Anoushah Rasta reports January 8, 2022 at 11 p.m. for NBC4 News.

Police were dispatched to the 9900 block of Avalon Boulevard, near Century Boulevard, shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD’s Media Relations Division said.

Garcia was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene, Eisenman said.

Garcia worked at the location with his 19-year-old son, who was the one who denied the counterfeit money.
