Stockton Heath boy walks from village to Old Trafford

AN inspiring youngster from Stockton Heath is almost ready to take an impressive 15 mile walk in front of his school.

The six-year-old wanted to help raise the remaining money for a new playground.

So Harvey Goodman decided to walk from Stockton Heath Primary School to Old Trafford football stadium in an effort to raise as much money as possible.

The football fan is accompanied not only by friends and family on his walk, but also by his headteacher and class teacher whom he has inspired.

After training hard and preparing for the big day, Harvey has raised nearly £2,000 to date.

He’s even been backed by a Stockton Heath company, Stand Out Socks, to make sure he’s comfortable on the go.

Stockton Heath Primary School headteacher Dan Harding said: “For a year, a child plans to walk this incredible distance to raise money for his school.

“Harvey is a school councilor and was delighted to learn of our plans to redevelop the outdoor spaces of EYFS and Forest School.

“He knows that a huge amount of money needs to be raised to make our plans a reality.

“To think that a child of this age can be so generous, selfless and considerate for the benefit of his peers and the wider school community is truly humbling and I am so proud of him for even proposing this challenge, let alone to take it on.”

Harvey will have the whole school cheer for him when the day comes on January 29.
