Reach of Washington County is a nonprofit organization that has worked for 32 years to help solve and prevent homelessness.
They say this money will help continue to do just that.
“$1,500 could be used to pay a security deposit and someone’s first month’s rent. It could help with 20+ IDs or birth certificates, or it could help someone prevent deportations,” said Jeannie Asbury, executive director of Reach.
“They do so much work with the homeless, the local homeless people in Hagerstown. we toured their facilities and think we made a good choice this month,” said Anthony Schifano, general manager of Sheehy Subaru of Hagerstown.
The homeless shelter houses about 225 people during the cold season.
