‘Seoul Thai Festival Online 2022’ to promote tourism and healthy food – April 22-23

The Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul is proud to present “Seoul Thai Festival Online 2022”. In collaboration with the ASEAN-Korea Center, the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul would like to invite all Thai and Korean friends to watch our streaming video on April 23-24, 2022 at https://www.youtube.com/user/ akcsns or on the Embassy’s Facebook page.

The Thai Festival is an annual event held by the Embassy since 2015 to raise awareness and strengthen friendly relations between Thailand and the ROK, especially people-to-people relations. It also aims to promote tourism in Thailand and Thai products, including Thai cuisine. In early 2019, the event took place at Cheonggye Plaza with over 45,000 attendees. However, since the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020-2021, the Embassy has held the 6th Virtual Online Seoul Thai Festival, under the theme “Imagine Thailand”, which received around 2 million views in one month. .

Although Thailand and the Republic of Korea are making good progress in containing the spread of COVID-19, as evidenced by the reduction in the number of infections and the relaxation of the social distancing measure, the two countries remain cautious. Accordingly, the Embassy decides to hold the Second Seoul Thai Festival online under the theme “Healthy Thai”. This year’s festival will promote good health in Thai style in relation to Thai culture, healthy eating, self-health monitoring, Muay Thai for exercise and green tourism.

The Embassy chose Hanuman and Macchanu, characters from Thai Epic Ramakian as the festival’s MC to represent energy, power, activity and happiness. The festival includes 7 programs as follows:

  1. muay thai for fitness

The section aims to promote Muay Thai or Thai Boxing as an international sport and fitness exercise that can be done at home. The Embassy invited Mr. Wittawat Kasom (Master Din) expert in Muay Thai, as an instructor and Mr. Kyutae Sim (Kyutae Oppa), a Korean Youtuber based in Thailand as an apprentice of the program. Kyutae Oppa’s Youtube channel has over 9 million subscribers who love her for her energetic, over-the-top personality and experimental content. The program is comical, energetic and contains professional and simple advice on Muay Thai exercise techniques that anyone can try at home.

  1. Thai healthy food

After the Muay Thai exercises are completed, Master Din will present healthy post-workout Thai dishes that are easy to cook or can be found in restaurants in the Republic of Korea.

  1. Tips from the golf pros

In this program, Ms. Atthaya Thitikul (Pro Jeen), Thai professional golfer (5th in the LPGA) will provide solid and useful techniques. Ms. Atthaya will play at the AYODHYA LINKS Golf Course. The program is specially designed for viewers who enjoy golf.

  1. Meet the Doctors at Ramathibodi Hospital

The Embassy, ​​in cooperation with Ramathibodi Hospital, will present the special episode of Rama Channel, an online health care program aimed at raising awareness among Thais living in the Republic of Korea and Korean viewers about health and personal care. . The program will focus on basic instructions on how to use non-prescription medications, such as painkillers and antibiotics, etc. approximately 170,000 Thais residing in the Republic of Korea.

  1. Conference on green tourism

In addition to our health, we must consider the health of our environment. The Embassy presents a lecture on green tourism by Dr. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, a leading marine biologist in Thailand, who will present Thai tourism in the light of the environment and sustainable development. Dr. Thon will also mention his experiences on marine conservation in Thailand and its relationship to green tourism, which is in line with Thailand’s bio-circular-green economy.

  1. Cocoa Thai Webtoon

Kakao Webtoon Thailand recently launched the “Love Destiny” Webtoon on its mobile app on April 1, 2022. Love Destiny Webtoon is adapted from the Thai TV drama based on a love story in Ayutthaya, Kingdom of Thailand. The Embassy, ​​in collaboration with Kakao Webtoon Thailand, will present an exclusive interview with Ms. Chanyawee Sompreeda, (pen name: Rom Paeng), author of the novel “Love Destiny”. Rom Paeng will talk about the origin of the story, inspirations and background of the said webtoon adaptation, which also encourages understanding and exchanges of Thai and Korean culture. We hope that the webtoon, which frees the mind and encourages inspiration and imagination, will lead to more future collaboration and exchange of stories between Thailand and the Republic of Korea.

The embassy will present special mini-concerts by Mr. Putthipong Assaratanakul (Billkin), a singer, actor and Thai pop idol, who is also a recipient of the Seoul Drama Awards of the 2021 International Drama Award. Bilkin will play against the back designed by CG Animation, created by talented Thai artists. In addition, the Embassy, ​​in cooperation with Creative Economy Agency (CEA), has invited new Thai indie bands, such as Rattanakosin Breakin Crew, which is one of the first Thai Funk bands, and 043 Sila Club, whose genre is Isan Trap music.

Finally, the Embassy would like to invite Thais and Koreans to participate in fun festival activities via Facebook (@RoyalThaiEmbassySeoul) and Instagram (@Thaifestkorea) by posting photos with captions expressing what you miss most about Thailand and inserting #Seoulthaifestival2022 hashtag.
