Rosewood emergency declaration: PSPA declared after two bodies found, hazards on site

Police have declared an emergency situation and evacuated homes southwest of Brisbane after a welfare check found two dead bodies and a number of potentially hazardous devices at the scene.

An emergency exclusion zone has been put in place in Ipswich after police found two bodies and potentially hazardous devices in a Rosewood home.

Police were called to a property on Blakes Road yesterday at 4pm to conduct a welfare check when they found the bodies.

Specialist police crews, including the Queensland Police Explosive Ordnance Response Team are on the scene.

It’s understood police located devices of interest inside the home.

The deaths, which are currently being treated as non-suspicious, are believed to be unlinked to the devices, however investigations remain ongoing and the exclusion zone had been put in place as a precaution.

It includes parts of Blakes Rd in Rosewood and the affected properties have already been evaluated with roadblocks in place.

Fire crews and paramedics also attended the scene on Friday afternoon and have remained on standby overnight at the Rosewood property.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.
