Period elegance meets modern “party house” at this Elsternwick gem which piqued the interest of a supermodel when it last sold.

Vendors Elena and Jimmy Gorozidis bought the 421 Kooyong Rd home in 2016 after falling in love with the family-friendly layout and backyard.

And after beating out international supermodel Megan Gale for the keys, the pair set about reinventing the four-bedroom, three-bathroom house — adding personal flare and creating a cohesive space for them and their 18-month-old son to enjoy.

Home with the lot has private Italian restaurant

It has now been listed with a $2.6m-$2.8m.

“It was already renovated to an extent, but we changed the whole appearance and vibe,” Ms Gorozidis said.

Careful to preserve the property’s original charm, they “added things over time” and restored features where they could, including ornate ceiling roses which they contrasted with modern pendant lights.

“We’ve redone all three bathrooms with floor to ceiling tiles from Signorino,” Ms Gorozidis said.

“We added more cabinetry in the butler’s pantry, CCTV and outdoors we installed automatic blinds that come down so you can turn the heater on and entertain in winter.

“People don’t want to leave our house because it has such a good vibe.”

The expansive home has four bedrooms, including a main with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. There’s also a study, in the original part of the home at the front.

A modern extension at the rear of the property looks out to a covered entertainment area and the pool and spa.

Ms Gorozidis, who has lived in the suburb for 38 years, said her family had spent many summer days by the pool.

“The back area is phenomenal,” she said.

“The spa is really great all year round and the pool is self sufficient — you just have to empty the basket once a month.”

They have also installed an irrigation system that filters through the backyard and vegetable garden on the side of the house.

Back inside, the slick kitchen includes a butler’s pantry with access to the laundry.

“I love my period homes and I love the fact the front is original and then you go into this modern space.,” Ms Gorozidis said.

Ms Gorozidis, who founded Elles Belles Early Learning and recently opened her second center in Ormond, said it would be “bittersweet” to sell the home they brought their first child home to. But she added they also liked to “embrace change”.

The couple have recently purchased another home, a Victorian in Brighton, which they plan to renovate.

“We’re going to mimic this but on a larger scale,” Ms Gorozidis said.

She said the location was second to none with a plethora of top private and public schools nearby and trendy cafes, bars and restaurants within walking distance. Elwood beach is also a short drive away.

“Elsternwick is buzzing now,” Ms Gorozidis said.

Marshall White Bayside director Matthew Pillios said the home was “luxury single level living that every family will enjoy”.

“The living and kitchen area that flows onto a huge outdoor alfresco area and swimming pool is one of the best I have seen,” Mr Pillios said.

The home will go to auction this Saturday at 3.30pm.
