NYT bestselling author to take part in Birmingham book club event

Hello everyone. I’m Fred Davenport with W BTM 13, we’re talking to Arthur Carew today, she’s with the Book Club in the meantime and she’s preparing to host the second annual Behind the Ink event taking place this Saturday and she’s joining us now to talk about it. So first of all, I’ll let you talk about the event and the excitement behind it, thank you very much. Mr. Davenport, I really appreciate this opportunity. I am president and founder of the Me Time Book Club. Our book club was established in 2011 and this year we are hosting our second annual Behind the Ink book event. This event is *** the first author signing event to be held at Harvard Center uh this Saturday, August 30 starting at 11 a.m. ***. Mr. Until four in the afternoon will feature best-selling and local authors. Alright, let’s talk about the difference between this event and the first, The first event. Uh, we only had about 33 participants altogether. We hosted this event at Stillman College, uh this year we wanted to have *** a different venue, one that was of course closer to the airport for *** a lot of the authors who will be flying in and doing * ** a little more practical. We actually doubled the attendance this year. We had uh Over 65 participants. We feature New York Times bestselling author Zane. Uh, she’s also going to be showcasing her latest movie which is set to debut in May on Amazon Prime, but she’s given us an exclusive preview and we’ll also have star author Curtis Bond, he’s the founder of the national Book Club conference in Atlanta. He is an author and journalist. And we’ll also feature Alabama’s own poet, Lord Ashley M Jones. She will also be there with her latest book. Yes, I’m sure *** a lot of people are excited about this event. Absolutely. There are so many authors in our area alone and being an author myself, one thing I’ve noticed is that I always travel out of state to host literary events and you know, as a president of a book club ***, you always have, you know, close relationships with authors and self-published authors, you know, and so I wanted to organize an event in Birmingham Alabama so that we could present our local authors and bring in some of the best known authors. Yeah. Have you met *** many people who have taken time off during the pandemic to write books? Absolutely. There were so many authors debuting during the pandemic. They had time to, uh, you know, sit in their thoughts because everyone was stuck inside and *** a lot of them started with children’s books, some started with their novels and then, you know, 2021 it was a little, you know, uncertain about doing book events, but they got the edit done and now they’re ready to show us what they’ve been up to work. OK. And if I want to have more information about the cost of the rental, any other information about this event, where should I do? Yeah. So you can go to our website, which is me, Time Book Club One on Weebly Point Com. You can also access all dot com events and type behind the eight. Um, it’s a *** free event uh, free to the public. You can save the registration, it gives us *** a better idea of how many participants there will be at the moment. We have over 100 people already registered. And so we are very excited about this event. Uh, we also have local literacy groups that have been phenomenal, uh, reaching out and reading Alabama, better Alabama basics and also family orientation. And, and if you missed any part of this interview, you can still watch it on our website. This is WV Tm 13 dot com. You will have a great evening *** and take care of yourself. Stay safe.
