Natural winemaker Doom Juice opens a cellar door in the garage of the gated St Peters pub, the White Horse Hotel, in spring and summer. Launching September 2, it will feature Doom Juice’s full range of organic, natural and vegan wines, as well as pop-up cuisine, a DJ roster and artist residencies. A mural of cartoonist Struthless will appear on the street, drawing punters inside.
The pop-up restaurant, St Lawrence Bistro, is run by chef Bastardo Jack Fitzhenry. Every Sunday there will be a different chef on the pans, serving an à la carte menu. Chef Toby Stansfield of Old Fitz, Chef Marcelo Munoz of Continental Deli CBD, Wesley Cooper Jones (P&V), Cafe Paci Sous Chef Sammy Rozsnyoi, Luka Coyne (Fish Shop), Sagra’s Ed Saxton and Anna Ugarte are already registered for the concert. -Carral (Ten Hats, ex-Old Fitz).
Drinkers and diners can hole up in a sunny courtyard, which will have a bottle-style fridge and red neon lights. Founders Sebastian Keys and Zachary Godbolt promise there will also be “Sydney’s best smoking area”, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Doom Juice’s cellar door is set to open at 161 Princes Highway, St Peters on September 2.
