A murder investigation has been opened following the death of a man at Lakeside Shopping Centre. Essex Police were called to the mall at around 4.30pm today (April 28) after reports of an assault.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to Lakeside, but the victim died at the scene. He has not yet been named by the police.
Essex Police said officers believe it was a targeted attack. Two men allegedly assaulted the victim near the food hall.

The suspects are described as being of black or Asian descent. One wore ripped blue jeans, a white t-shirt, black sneakers and a black puffer jacket, and carried a small bag. The other was described as wearing a blue tracksuit and white sneakers.
Lead investigator, Detective Chief Inspector Scott Egerton, of the Kent and Essex Major Crimes Branch, said: “ I want to offer my condolences to the family after this terrible attack. At the time of the assault, that area of the mall will have been occupied so I think someone will have seen what happened.
“I need them to contact my team of specialist and dedicated officers and staff. I know there will be concerns about this attack, but at this stage we believe this is a targeted attack and that there is no risk to the general public.
