Manchester United face competition from Barcelona for Carney Chukwuemeka

Manchester United face strong interest from Barcelona in Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka

Manchester United are now facing strong interest from Barcelona for the services of Aston Villa star Carney Chukwuemeka, according to BirminghamLive. His future at Villa Park is currently shrouded in uncertainty, which has seen several clubs hover around the midfielder.

Chukwuemeka is set to lose his contract next summer after rejecting an extension offer from Villa. This has alerted several top clubs across Europe, with Man United, Arsenal, Manchester City and others across the continent being among the interested parties.

Barca are one of those suitors targeting the Englishman, having expressed a ‘serious interest’ in securing his signature. It is reported that they could strike a deal with Chukwuemeka in January and reward him with a training fee worth just £287,000,000 when he becomes a free agent.

Hard blow for Man Utd?

Luckily, a move to Camp Nou is far from certain at the moment, giving us time to make our case. Despite their struggles, the Catalans are in a better situation than us at the moment, which is indeed a blow to our chances.

At the same time, there are quite a few talented young midfielders in Blaugrana club, raising doubts about Chukwuemeka’s ability to succeed due to stiff competition. Pedri, Gavi, Nico Gonzalez and Pablo Torre are just some of the highest rated prospects in their ranks.

Therefore, one could argue that joining us could possibly give Chukwuemeka the best possible chance to succeed at the top, but whether he is of the same mindset or not remains to be seen. Closing a deal for the talented 18-year-old would no doubt be a great deal on our part due to the potential he has shown at such a young age.

It’s pretty clear at this point that following a holistic path would be the best way to ensure long-term success, as shown in the case of Man City, for example. Using talents from within while balancing them with superstar signings to fill holes in the squad should be what we should strive for moving forward.

Chukwuemeka’s arrival would ensure that we have a wide range of talent to choose from and promote to the first team, raising the level of quality in the process. Therefore, we have to do our best to finalize a move for the young prospect, so let’s wait and see if we can beat Xavi Hernandez’s side in this pursuit.

At the same time, it would be wise to keep an eye on the Gunners and Pep Guardiola squad to avoid any shock from them. Not to mention, we should also be wary of other unknown contenders vying for the Young Lions ace.
