Manchester City ‘fixed their eyes’ on La Liga star – ‘Contacted’ his agent, reportedly needs €60m

Manchester City is ‘watch’ a move for Villarreal defender Pau Torres ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Cadena SER journalist Xavi Sidro, who says they’re ready to compete with Erik ten Hag and co. for his signature.

He reports that Manchester City have ‘fix the eyes’ on the Spanish defender, whose performances have ‘attracted’ their attention.

They are now “interested in his services” ahead of next season, especially if any of their current defensive options were to leave in the summer window.

Manchester City has already ‘contacted’ defender’s agency to ask about the player and if he would be interested in leaving Villarreal at the end of the season.

At the moment, the Spanish side has not received an official offer from any of the interested parties, but its representatives have ‘interest receipt’ of the two Manchester clubs.

Torres has a €70m clause in his current contract, although Villarreal are not closing the door on lower-figure talks this month.

It’s not the first time a Premier League club have shown interest in the centre-back, with Tottenham making a €50m bid last summer.

Villarreal were ready to approve a deal at that price but the player refused, preferring to stay where he was and play Champions League football.

It worked as Villarreal reached the semi-finals of the competition this season which increased their value in the process as Villarreal were no longer willing to negotiate a deal. ‘for less than 60 million euros.’
