Leeds Police surround Chapel Allerton restaurant with a cordon in place – as it happened

Police were seen standing guard outside a restaurant on a busy road in Leeds this afternoon.

West Yorkshire Police were spotted near Chefs Restaurant & Takeaway, Chapel Allerton.

It was initially unclear why they were there, but witnesses said officers were there when they arrived at work around 8am this morning (Saturday).

The force has since confirmed it is investigating firearms offences. Two officers were pictured standing outside the takeaway and a police van was also parked in a ginnel next door.

A woman who works nearby said Leeds live“They were there at 8:30 a.m., we heard nothing, none of us knows why they are there. There is nothing weird, it looks as usual, we have no idea.
