How to Use Rappler’s PHVote Microsite

Rappler’s PHVote microsite provides the latest news, profiles, explanations, analysis, tools and more about the 2022 polls – all in one place

MANILA, Philippines – There are only weeks left before the high-stakes elections on May 9 which will take place against the backdrop of a botched pandemic response, a myriad of human rights violations and the rise of misinformation in the country.

Choosing the right people to lead the country has never been more critical. To help Filipinos better understand the elections and make informed decisions, Rappler has created a one-stop microsite for the 2022 elections.


Rappler’s PHVote microsite provides the latest news, explanations, analysis, trackers and other information regarding upcoming polls – all in one place.

To help voters learn about candidates for state and local office, the PHVote microsite also contains profiles for each candidate. Another feature, called Tale of the Tape, allows voters to compare presidential and vice-presidential candidates side-by-side.

The microsite will also feature live election results on May 9.

Here’s how you can use Rappler’s PHVote microsite.

When you open the PHVote microsite, you’ll see a rich catalog of everything election-related, starting with the latest news and videos.

At the top of the home page are links to:

  • National races: Profiles of candidates for national positions
  • Local races: Profiles of candidates for local positions
  • Tale of the Band: Tool to help voters compare presidential and vice-presidential candidates
  • Survey Monitor: Tracking data from voter preference polls, such as Pulse Asia and OCTA, to inform readers of poll appreciation
  • Voting guides: Repository of explainers and in-depth reports on the electoral process
  • Campaign schedule: Schedules for outings, events and activities for presidential candidates and their running mates
  • Multimedia: Links to Rappler’s TikTok shows, podcasts and videos dealing with election issues

The homepage also includes a tool that allows you to compare presidential and vice-presidential candidates side-by-side. You can compare up to three presidential or vice presidential candidates at once. Click on Compare these candidates to go to the Tale of the Tape page and see the comparisons in detail.

The list of presidential and vice-presidential candidates is on one page, while those for the senatorial are on a separate page. A brief description of each position explains its role in government. To view a candidate’s profile, click on their name in the list.

Each profile includes an overview of the candidate’s background as a public servant, a link to their main profile, and a gallery of news and updates regarding their candidacy.

You can share these profiles online using the Share integrated buttons on each page.

The list of party groups vying for seats in Congress

Meanwhile, another page lists all the groups on the party list vying for Congress. A brief description also explains the role of party lists in government. To see the nominees for a party list, click on the group name in the list. You can also search for any party list group in the list using the search bar.

You can share this list of party list groups online using the Share buttons embedded in the page.

Local races

The local races page contains the profiles of the candidates running in each local government unit (LGU).

Search for a particular LGU using this three-categorized database: Manila Metro, provincesand independent cities. You can also search for an LGU directly using the search bar.

Click on the name of an LGU to see the list of candidates competing in that area.

To help voters make data-driven choices for president and vice president, the PHVote microsite includes Tale of the Tape, a tool that compares presidential and vice presidential candidates based on their facts. salient points and their controversies, their promises and their positions on the main issues.

You can compare up to three presidential or vice presidential candidates at once.

Highlights and controversies include the political backgrounds of the candidates, their wealth, their blunders and gaffes.

Meanwhile, displayed below the pledges are candidates’ campaign pledges for particular sectors. This section contains links to any related content, additional context, or fact checks on any misinformation or misinformation reported by a candidate.

Finally, positions on major issues cover the candidates’ views on the economy, public health, foreign policy, peace and development, labor and employment, and gender and equality.
