High school students can train for free at Planet Fitness during the summer

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – Planet Fitness is calling on all high school students ages 14-19 to train for free this summer.

High school students are eligible to train at any of the Georgia locations from May 16 through August 31, 2022 as part of their program, High School Summer Pass. In 2019, the program launched as the Teen Summer Challenge.

American fitness franchise, Planet Fitness, explains how this program will help Georgians across the state.

“By opening our doors to teens across Georgia, Planet Fitness hopes to help teens get moving and focus on their physical and mental well-being,” they shared in a press release.

Chris Rondeau, CEO of Planet Fitness, says it’s Planet Fitness’s job as a leader in fitness to provide a judgment-free zone for high school students.

“As a leader in fitness, we believe we have a responsibility to provide a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental environment for high school students to enhance their physical and mental well-being, especially given the challenges they face. faced and continue to face as a result of the pandemic,” Rondeau said. “Our study found that almost all high school students (92%) agreed that when they are physically active on a regular basis, they feel much better mentally. Fitness is also about feeling great, and we hope the High School Summer Pass empowers teens to create lifelong workout habits to help them succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Scott Breault, senior vice president of marketing for corporate clubs at Planet Fitness, adds to that statement by sharing the franchise’s enthusiasm for welcoming teens this summer.

“We are excited to invite teenagers all summer to our clubs in Greenville and throughout North Carolina,” Breault said. “High school students have been one of the most at-risk groups resulting from the pandemic, and we encourage them to stay active in the non-judgmental zone to improve their mental and physical health this summer and in the future.”

Planet Fitness is offering an added incentive for high school students who want to get active, all participants who register on or after May 16, 2022 will be entered into The Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass Sweepstakes. One student from each state will receive a $500 scholarship and one student will receive a grand prize, a $5,000 scholarship at the end of the summer.

Participants in this initiative will also have access to workout videos created by certified trainers, including workout videos led by 15 trainers and 10 downloadable workouts. These workouts are accessible from May 16, 2022 via the Planet Fitness app.
