Handyman David Bonola appears in court in horrific murder of Queens mother stabbed more than 55 times

FOREST HILLS, Queens (WABC) – The suspect in the murder of a mother of two in Queens has appeared before a judge for his first court appearance.

Late Thursday evening, more details of what allegedly happened inside the family home on a normally quiet street emerged. Prosecutors say the victim let her accused killer into her home.

The prosecution has submitted a transcript of the taped statement David Bonola, 44, gave to police where they say he confessed.

He is accused of killing Orsoyla Gaal, 51, at his Forest Hills home on Saturday.

Police said the two had a two-year extramarital affair until she wanted to break up.

Bonola was a handyman employed by the victim’s family and police say the two argued in his basement with his teenage son sleeping upstairs.

“A heated argument ensues between the two in the basement. A knife is brandished, a violent struggle ensues, resulting in our victim being stabbed ruthlessly and brutally over 55 times,” said Chief of Detectives James Essig.

The victim’s throat was also slit.

Police say surveillance cameras captured Bonola using a hockey bag belonging to the victim’s son to carry his body through the streets of Forest Hills, before dumping him in a park half a mile away.

Officials say after disposing of the body, Bonola fled through the park, where investigators discovered his jacket.

They also said bloody bandages were found during the investigation and Bonola was treated for injuries to both hands at a local medical facility.

Investigators say this clearly shows the victim attempted to fight.

Bonola remains behind bars without bail at this point. He was also put on suicide watch.

Bonola is of Mexican descent and came to the United States 21 years ago.
