Gringo: Vancouver Mexican Restaurant Adds Second Location

They transformed a West End space in just weeks to open just in time for the peak of summer.

“Give me tacos and tell me I’m pretty,” reads a bright pink neon sign on the wall inside Gringo’s new second location.

Vancouver’s beloved irreverent taco restaurant has opened its doors just in time for BC’s Pride and Festivities long weekend in the colorful West End.

Gringo 2.0, as he is known, has moved into 1074 Davie St, the former Beetbox space. The herbal predecessor shut down on May 28 this year, following an October 2019 launch.

Wooden Table Hospitality partner Sean Davis told VIA in an email that the restaurant officially opened Friday, July 29.

The Gringo 2.0 team took only one turn to transform the small space. “We did some paint work and minor tweaks to the room,” says Davis, adding that his business partner Shoel Davidson and his dad, Richard, “did an amazing job grinding the space in seven short weeks. “.

Gringo, whose Blood Alley spot is “the OG Back Alley Taco & Drink Shop”, is well known and loved for its menu of affordable and fun Mexican-style dishes, like nachos, burritos, quesadillas and, of course, Tacos.

Additionally, regarding the new Davie Street Gringo, “We’ll have some exciting menu features that we’ll be sharing on our social feeds in the coming weeks,” Davis hints.

Currently, Gringo 2.0 on Davie is open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight daily. Follow them on Instagram @Gringo_Westend for more information and to check out their new menu items.
