Fairfield University wants to build a second residence hall

Fairfield University plans to build a 165-bed residence on its Fairfield, Conn.Campus.

The university residence, called Regis Westwill provide living space for sophomores, reports CT Insider.

The university is seeking approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission for the residence proposal.

The university originally wanted to build a five-story, 56-foot-tall facility, but scaled it down to four-story, 46-foot-tall following community discussions.

The university hopes to increase its undergraduate enrollment to around 5,000 students, and the additional student housing would help it achieve that goal.
