Not subtle. Emma Kenny was not enthusiastic about Ansel Elgort2022 Met Gala appearance — and she wasn’t afraid to call it out.

“Who is Ansel Elgort taking to the meeting….Alexander Wang? 🙄🙄🙄”, the Shameless actress, 22 years old, tweeted on Monday, May 2, after the 28-year-old actor was photographed in costume on the red carpet at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Elgort has not announced who designed her look for the event.

Kenney’s startling social media post apparently referred to Elgort attending fashion’s biggest party after he was previously accused of sexual assault.

In June 2020, the baby driver made headlines when a woman alleged he assaulted her days after she turned 17. “He was in his twenties. He knew what he was doing,” Gabby wrote in a lengthy Twitter post about the alleged 2014 encounter. “Ansel Elgort sexually assaulted me when I was 17. I DMed him two days before my 17th birthday, and got his private Snapchat. I didn’t think he would ever see my DM. I was just a kid and I was a fan of his.

The woman claimed that “instead of asking me if I wanted to stop having sex knowing it was my first time”, the Divergent alum forced himself on her and “made me think that’s how sex was supposed to be.”

Gabby said she remained silent because Elgort allegedly said it could “ruin her career” if she spoke out. “Years later, I have PTSD, I have panic attacks, I go to therapy,” she continued. “I just want to heal and I want other girls who have been through the same thing as me, you’re not alone. It’s a lot for me to come here and tell my story, but I know it’s necessary.

the West Side Story The star, for her part, broke her silence days after the claims went viral. “I have been devastated to see the social media posts about me that have been circulating over the past 24 hours,” he wrote on Instagram in June 2020. “I cannot claim to understand the feelings of Gabby, but her description of events is just not what happened.”

Elgort continued, “I have never and never would assault anyone. What is true is that in New York in 2014, when I was 20, Gabby and I had a brief, legal, and entirely consensual relationship. Unfortunately, I didn’t handle the breakup well. I stopped responding to him, which is an immature and cruel thing to do to someone. I know that this belated apology does not excuse me from my unacceptable behavior during my disappearance.

The Golden Globe nominee concluded the post by acknowledging that he felt “disgusted and deeply ashamed” by her attitude at the time, adding, “I’m so sorry. I know I have to keep thinking, learning and to work on growing in empathy.

Later that year, several people also came forward with assault allegations against Alexander Wang. Model Owen Mooney claimed he was groped by the designer, 38, in 2017. At the time, Wang called the accusations “false, fabricated and mostly anonymous.”

“Over the past few days, I have been the target of baseless and grotesquely false accusations. These claims have been wrongly amplified by social media accounts infamous for posting defamatory content from undisclosed sources and/or or anonymous without any proof or fact-checking,” he said in a statement in December 2020.

The California native added, “To see these lies about me perpetuated as truths has been infuriating. I have never exhibited the atrocious behavior described and would never conduct myself in the manner that was alleged. I intend to get to the bottom of this and hold accountable whoever is responsible for the origin of these allegations and their vicious spread online.

The former Balenciaga creative director later posted another message apologizing for “acting in a way” that caused pain to his accusers. “A number of people have recently come forward to file complaints against me regarding my past personal behavior,” he wrote via Instagram in March 2021. “I support their right to come forward, and have listened carefully to this they had to say. It was not easy for them to share their stories, and I regret that I acted in a way that caused them pain.

Wang concluded, “While we disagree on some details of these personal interactions, I will set a better example and use my visibility and influence to encourage others to recognize harmful behavior. Life is about learning and growing, and now that I know better, I will do better.
