El Monte, Jadelynn Kwok, 18, and her boyfriend, Michael Fiorillo, 24, killed in hit-and-run accident near Compton

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A heartbroken family is searching for answers and peace after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident alongside her boyfriend near Compton.

According to family members, Jadelynn Kwok, 18, of El Monte, and her boyfriend, Michael Fiorillo, 24, were killed over the weekend.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday April 30.

The California Highway Patrol said a driver was heading east on Interstate 91, west of Acacia Avenue, when the suspect crashed into the car Jadelynn Kwok and Fiorillo were in.

Investigators said the driver was driving a Honda.

Since then, family and friends have laid flowers and candles at the crash site every day.

“Her smile made everyone happy,” said Mikaylee Kwok, Jadelynn Kwok’s sister. “She was like a sense of belonging. She’s so goofy. She made everyone laugh. Everyone around her was always happy. She lit up everyone’s world.”

Jadelynn Kwok’s brother remembered his sister being caring.

“She always did everything for me,” said Ethan Kwok, Jadelynn Kwok’s brother. “When I was hungry, she always brought me food. Even when she couldn’t be home, she always brought me food somehow, and I love her. She was really nice.”

Jadelynn Kwok’s best friend, Lily Vasquez, hosted a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses.

She said whoever did this is still here and should come forward.

“The Honda employee just got out of his car, picked up what belonged to his car and drove off,” she said. “He didn’t care about checking on people. He left. He took our sister, our best friend, our niece, our nephew.”

Jadelynn Kwok’s loved ones hope the couple can rest together.

Meanwhile, the driver involved remains on the run. A description of the suspect was not immediately released.
