Darwen’s man’s weight loss journey is in aid of East Lancashire Hospice

A generous and driven man from Darwen has challenged himself on an intense weight loss journey to benefit East Lancashire Hospice.

Carl Knowles, managing director of electrical company Elektec, completes a sponsored weight loss event to raise money for the Hospice.

So far, Carl has lost almost three and a half stone since he started the body transformation challenge on Tuesday May 3.

Online fitness trainer Jessica Cronshaw has supported Carl on his journey by offering free health and fitness sessions over the past few months.

With the deadline approaching, Carl only has four weeks left to continue with the challenge of raising funds for the Hospice.

Wednesday August 31 marks the end of the Corporate Challenge and Carl hopes to raise more money and lose some weight

Elektec is taking part in the Corporate Challenge and has so far raised the colossal sum of £600 for the Hospice and are determined to raise even more.

Together with his wife Charlotte, the couple are also raffling off a Zappi 7kW electric vehicle charging point and offering free installation to one lucky owner in east Lancashire.

The couple and the business owners aren’t the only ones dedicated to fundraising. The generosity is clearly in the family, as their eldest son Ralph, 5, is selling sunflower paintings through the East Lancashire Hospice website to raise money for them too.

Leanne Green, Fundraising and Marketing Manager: “Elektec are amazing supporters of hospice, they go above and beyond to raise awareness of the work we do for our community and are always there to support us in our Fund raising.

“I love being part of the challenge and seeing the benefits it brings to businesses, there really is such a good team spirit and knowing that everyone is doing it to support East Lancashire Hospice makes it even more special.”

Money raised from raffle tickets will also be donated to East Lancashire Hospice, which costs £11,000 a day to operate, so every donation is vital.
