A Canberra man is facing a series of child abuse charges after a month-long police investigation, with one of the offenses being incest against a child under 10.
A Canberra man has been charged with a series of child abuse offenses including incest against a child under 10.
ACT’s Joint Child Exploitation Team began investigating in February after the Australian Center for Child Exploitation informed them of an alleged peer-to-peer sharing of child pornography material.
This led authorities to execute a search warrant at a Palmerston home after a month-long investigation.
Two personal computers and an external hard drive were seized.
Police say the devices contained thousands of videos and images.
The 35-year-old initially faced two counts of possession of child pornography, but further investigations into the seized material led to new charges.
The 19 child abuse charges the man faces include six counts of indecent assault with a child under 10, six counts of using a child to produce child exploitation material, five counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10, one count of possession of child exploitation material and a leader of incest with a child under 10 years old.
He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
