Bureau of Meteorology issues severe weather warning for heavy rainfall in ACT region | The Canberra Times

news, latest news,

Just days after high winds and hail damaged Belconnen, a severe weather warning was issued for the region. About 2000 households are without power and some have been told by energy supplier EvoEnergy that this will be the case until Sunday. The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of heavy rainfall in the forecast districts of Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Riverina, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory. Up to 25 millimeters of rain will fall in Canberra on Thursday. More storms are forecast for Friday and between 25 and 35 millimeters of rain is expected. The weather warning comes after the severe storm damaged power lines and infrastructure as hail and high winds knocked down trees across the region. More to come.
