Books at the Barn event helps provide books for children

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local library held a special event in downtown Jackson on Tuesday.

The seventh annual Books at the Barn Drive-thru Dining Event was held at Jackson’s Farmers Market to benefit the Madison County Imagination Library.

The Madison County Imagination Library is an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which has promoted early reading and literacy since its inception.

The event was held to raise funds needed to continue providing books from birth to age five for all children born in Jackson and Madison County.

This year’s celebration included drive-through meals for sponsoring companies and organizations.

Children in Jackson-Madison County can explore the world from an early age through the “magic” of books.

“Supporting this program simply allows children to have books in their hands each month and promotes literacy at an early age,” said Brian Ferrell, president of Imagination Library.

Over 500,000 books have been distributed.

The Madison County Imagination Library has continued this proud tradition of providing books throughout the pandemic.
