BC records nine new virus-related deaths on Friday, with an increase in active caseload and hospitalizations

VICTORIA – The province saw a further increase in active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations today (Jan. 7) with BC registering 3,144 new cases.

As of Friday, BC has 33,184 active cases (up 1,964), of which 349 are currently hospitalized (up 25), and 93 are being treated in intensive care (up 3).

The Domestic Health Region registered 526 new cases today for a total of 3,183 active cases.

In addition, the county says nine new virus-related fatalities have been identified — none of the deaths occurred inland.
