Banner University Medicine Announces Sponsorship of El Tour de Tucson Title

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – Banner University Medicine, widely known for providing patient care, training future healthcare professionals and conducting medical research, is once again the official title sponsor of the El Tour of Tucson.

The 39th El Tour of Tucson will take place on November 19, 2022.

Banner named the Pima County Joint Technical Education District as the primary beneficiary of El Tour de Tucson’s fundraising goals.

The goal is to provide enhanced educational options for students interested in healthcare careers to help meet Arizona’s growing need for healthcare workers.

“El Tour de Tucson’s support will dramatically improve the lives of countless Pima JTED students looking to succeed in the job market and in college. We thank the event sponsors, especially title sponsor Banner University Medicine, for their commitment to improving our community,” said Kathy L. Prather, Pima County Joint Technical Education District Superintendent.

El Tour of Tucson named former Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry as the recipient of the dedication for the 39th El Tour of Tucson in November.

Each year, El Tour is dedicated to someone who has made a major contribution to the cycling community, serves as an example of success and has overcome life’s challenges.

“Chuck Huckelberry has dedicated his career to working in partnership with community members, businesses and healthcare professionals at Banner University Medicine and other organizations to help make southern Arizona a healthy cycling community, prosperous and secure. We are thrilled to honor Chuck’s dedication during this year’s Tour of Tucson,” said Sarah Frost, CEO of Banner University Medical Center South and Banner University Medical Center Tucson.

El Tour de Tucson is Arizona’s largest bicycle race and one of the top ten in the United States. It has raised over $100 million for over 100 organizations since its inception in 1983.
