EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Getting children back into their school routine before day one can help them make a smoother transition into the classroom.
Laura Day of River Valley Behavioral Health says children can experience a variety of nerves before their first day. She says resuming the school calendar can eliminate some of those butterflies.
“That self-care, rest, diet, balance between quiet time and active time is really important,” Day said.
Day says a big part of reducing “back to school” anxiety is making sure your child gets enough sleep.
Often kids stay up later in the summer, but she says creating a bedtime routine and getting enough sleep can reduce irritability, procrastination and jitters.
