After his incredible performances at the academy, few Manchester United fans wondered “who is Alejandro Garnacho?” when he came off the bench against Chelsea.
The teenager is well accustomed to Old Trafford, scoring six of his 16 academy goals this season at the stadium.
Now he’s made his first-team debut, and if you didn’t already know Garnacho, you soon will.
The young striker was emotional after coming off the bench in the dying minutes of Manchester United’s draw with Chelsea.
He said debuts were proof that dreams can come true, and promised that was just the beginning.
Garnacho, 17, has been on the bench for the past few weeks and was recently called up to Argentina at international level.
United signed Garnacho from Atletico Madrid in 2020.
As recently as Tuesday night, he was playing an Under-18 game for United at Blackburn.
Garnacho will be hoping for more minutes next Monday when United host Brentford at Old Trafford.
After that, his priority will be the FA Youth Cup final at Old Trafford on May 11.
A strong performance there might even attract the attention of new boss Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman will definitely watch from afar.
