A stylish Abbotsford home where an iconic Australian TV series was filmed will go up for auction later this month with price hopes of $1.35-1.425 million.
Built as a convenience store in 1887, 138 Park St was converted into a two-bedroom residence some six decades ago.
Owner Gavin Wood said scenes from the Logie Award-winning drama The Sullivans were recorded at the home.

The program featured several famous faces including Michael Caton, Kerry Armstrong, Mel Gibson, Dannii Minogue, Kylie Minogue, Sam Neill, Sigrid Thornton, Bert Newton, Gary Sweet and Charles ‘Bud’ Tingwell in some 1,114 episodes between 1976 and 1983 .
Mr Wood, his wife Jasmin and their seven-year-old son, Sasha, live in the house they bought nine years ago, attracted by the proximity of the Yarra River and Smith St.
They also loved the study and history of the home’s glass-roofed loft, including a vintage Velvet Soap panel on an exterior wall, seen through the bathroom skylight.
“When you lie in the bath, you can see the sign,” Mr Wood said.
A large-scale refurbishment saw them demolish a separate “lean-to” housing a bathroom, kitchen and utility room.
They imported a green-colored magnetic wall with movable plant pots from the United States to install in the new bathroom.
“Most of our friends, when they come over, it’s their favorite thing,” Mr. Wood said.
Other highlights of the property include a Smeg fitted kitchen where the double folding windows open onto an open-air terrace and a verdant Balinese-style garden.
“I often sit there and work from home and the soothing sounds of the water feature are soothing and peaceful,” Mr Wood added.
The exterior cobblestones were based on a design they photographed while in Ubud.
Mr Wood said the area was friendly, with nearby residents holding an annual Christmas party in the street and the Gahan Reserve being a great place to dine with neighbours.
Jellis partner Craig Fitzroy, Lee Muddle Partner, said the home’s spacious open-plan living and dining room, complete with gas fireplace, remained private due to mirrored glazing.
“We get a mix of young couples and families with one child expressing interest in the property,” Mr Muddle said.
The auction will take place on August 20 at 10 a.m.
