A new Liam Neeson action thriller and 4 more big trailers you may have missed this week

Here are five major projects on the way in 2022.

It’s been a busy week for trailers, with teasers for the final seasons of beloved crime dramas Ozark and Peaky Blinders.

Meanwhile, Netflix also had a first look at its new docuseries The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman.

While JOE has covered these in separate articles, here we’ve rounded up the other huge new trailers released in the past few days for you to check them out.

Fans of Liam Neeson action thrillers like the Taken trilogy and Unknown might want to check out Blacklight, in which the star plays a government official with a shadowy past who is brought in by an organization he once helped protect.

While it doesn’t have an Irish release date yet, it’s due out in the US on February 11, so you can expect it sometime after that.

Roland Emmerich, the director of Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012, returns this year with the new disaster film Moonfall in which the moon is knocked out of orbit by an unknown force and comes on a collision course with Earth.

Two astronauts (Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist (John Bradley) team up to avert disaster, only to discover that the moon is “not what it seems”.

Moonfall sounds and looks positive. We can’t wait to see it. It is currently slated for a February 4 release in Ireland.

Archive 81

Netflix will try to continue their hot run of acclaimed horror series such as Brand New Cherry Flavor and Midnight Mass with Archive 81, which is inspired by the popular podcast of the same name and produced by James Wan (Malignant, The Conjuring).

The show follows an archivist who takes on a task of restoring a collection of damaged 1994 video tapes and becomes involved in an investigation of a dangerous cult.

Effectively creepy, Archive 81 lands on the streamer on January 14.

Netflix also unveiled a new trailer for this Kristen Bell-starring series this week that puts a comedic twist on female-led mysteries like The Girl on the Train and The Streamer’s Woman in the Window.

The series replicates the vibe of one of those movies so well that some viewers mistook the show for a more straightforward thriller when the first trailer came out, and will hit Netflix on January 28.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Last but not least, Apple TV+ has released a trailer for the reboot of Fraggle Rock, Jim Henson’s popular children’s puppet series.

The new version of the program will premiere on the platform on January 21.
